Qigong ...

Qigong uses exercise and movement as an inner and outer experience that brings energy and healing to one’s whole being. Qigong comes from ancient China and has a history of thousands of years. It is based on the Oriental Medicine view of energy flow and energy meridians in the body and is similar in some respects to Tai Chi and other oriental movement forms. Many different forms and lineages of Qigong exist. Most forms include gentle movements combined with the use of breath, sound, and visualization. Often there is a sitting or standing meditation form to compliment the movement form. The goal is to restore balance and bring energy into one’s body/mind/spirit system.

Some Qigong masters and healers will prescribe specific movements to treat individual’s symptoms. Often the basic forms are taught in classes. Learning and practicing Qigong can empower an individual to successfully participate in his or her own healing. It is restorative, toning, and relaxing. Qigong can be practiced by the young and old, the healthy and the infirm and is a potent alternative and complement to standard workouts.
