The Christopher Center of Healing, LLC was first envisioned by Christy Carl. In a sense it was given to her to as her work of service after healing her cancer. She was supported and aided by three friends and advisors, Gail Meade, Dick Tarnutzer, and Jackie Wheatley. Out of their early discussions of the philosophy and services of this then unnamed healing center Gail Meade drew a healing center “mandala” which showed the client (a heart) at the center of a circle made up of variety of practitioners with connecting lines of service modalities, retreats, and workshops. Dick Tarnutzer’s intuitive “gut” suggested the name and consensus was immediate and unanimous.

 Christy continued working with the mandala as she started working on the logo design. From her inner guidance came the vision of a bright star representing the light within each person and the connection between people and the divine. Kate Short, a lover of whole foods and nature with an artistic flair took these ideas and developed some basic conceptual drawings of the logo. Christy’s dear friend and artist Freddie Spillman took over from there and drew the star inside the circle with smaller inner circles around the star and the name gracefully arching over the logo. She brought many of the ideas for the icons inside the small circles after listening deeply to what the center represented.

 Thus the logo is a large circle holding us all as travelers on a journey together. The light within us all shines out through the star and reminds us that it is the mysterious spirit within and around us that brings life and consciousness and connects us all. The plant at the bottom represents the growth we intend for all involved with The Christopher Center and also represents herbs, flower essences, homeopathic remedies, food, plant based medications, and the earth from which they grow. In the small circles are Hands representing human touch, physical bodies and the healing hands of Christ;  Fire representing strength, heat, yang energy, and the spirit within; an Arabic symbol representing the concept that all and everything is One; Water representing movement, cleansing, yin energy, blood, flowing relaxation; and Moon and Stars representing the cosmos, the unknown, and the mysterious beyond.

 Adding the words “Guiding you to the heart of healing” came out of Laurie Regan’s’s and Christy Carl's’s discussions about how to convey what we do at The Christopher Center. Dr. Regan, ND, PhD was able to visualize how curving the words underneath the logo brought balance and closure to the circle.
